Age-Inclusive Treatment Plan

Each patient has a unique set of needs based on developmental level and risk factors. Tailoring the program to each individual will encourage clients to be engaged in their care and reduce both dropout and relapse rates.

What to Expect

Concrete Texture

1

Use Newman Systems Model

The patient would be guided through identifying the current stressors they are experiencing. Each individual must learn to cope with their internal stressors and emotions effectively. Interpersonal stressors must also be minimized to limit the chance of relapse. Focusing on reducing the impact of the stressors and promoting mental health resilience paves the way for success.

2

Adult Treatment Plan

Therapy would focus on stress management and emotional resilience, since impulsivity and poor cognitive-behavioral regulation is common in this group. Adults need to remain engaged in their care to be successful. Implementing various support options, such as group therapy, peer support groups, and individual counseling, helps prevent relapse. They must also be assessed for mental health comorbidities, as this is common in substance use disorders in this age group.

3

Adolescent Treatment Plan

Education on substance use risks and peer and sibling influences can help prevent pressured exposure to substances. Standard substance use screening and identifying individuals at higher risk allows for early intervention. Counseling sessions that are shorter in length will consider developmental levels and encourage engagement in the program. Group therapy provides an opportunity to foster positive peer support during recovery.
